Prone to Bloviate
In early 2020, I held a solo exhibition titled Prone to Bloviate, an ode to my childhood as a lively, animated, and deeply emotional girl. I felt everything intensely, spoke a lot, danced a lot—but was often told I was "too much" or "too emotional." This feedback has stayed with me over the years, and it became the heart of the exhibition.
Prone to Bloviate—a phrase meaning "having the tendency to talk a lot"—featured a 7-minute long video piece alongside a collection of 100 ink drawings on watercolor, which were mounted on raw wood. Each drawing was created as a reaction to various moments that look place in the year prior to my art show. They are all connected to texts that was sent, things someone said, arguments I got into and other intimate moments.
